Cyprus Tax Department selects New Zealand company DataTorque Ltd to transform national tax system
DataTorque’s global reputation for tax reform expertise and successful delivery of integrated tax administration systems has again been recognised with the awarding of a long-term contract with the Cyprus Tax Department following a competitive international tender.
DataTorque will implement its flagship Revenue Management System alongside a comprehensive programme of reform for the Cyprus Tax Department (CTD) over 36 months, as well as providing comprehensive support and help-desk services post-implementation. Partnering with Cypriot technology provider NetU, this digital transformation project will be one of the largest IT projects ever implemented in Cyprus.
“Having a modern digital tax administration system has been our main goal since the establishment of the new Cyprus Tax Department in 2014” says Natasa Akkidou, Deputy Tax Commissioner, and the project’s Executive.
“We are confident that Data Torque’s expertise in tax reform and software implementation, together with the support from NetU, the consortium’s local partner, will provide the necessary capacity to achieve that goal.
“With the finalization of the project, other strategic objectives such as the provision of full electronic services to the taxpayers and simplification of processes would be accomplished too. In addition, the system will provide the elements for the realisation of other, more long-term objectives, such as increased compliance and revenues.” says Ms Akkidou.
“We are excited to partner with the Cyprus Tax Department to realise their vision of a modern, client-oriented, digital tax administration.” says Bill Chatwin, DataTorque’s Managing Director.
“For over 20 years we have partnered with tax authorities across the globe, and our best of breed technology delivered alongside a comprehensive transformation programme has been the key to our Collective Success. Our depth of international tax reform experience and team of hand-picked global experts leverage our proven technology to bring best practice to tax administration.
“This dual language transformation programme will fulfil many of the CTD’s strategic objectives – providing sophisticated electronic services for taxpayers, reducing processing times and growing government revenue to fund essential public services and infrastructure.
“We are very proud that DataTorque’s reputation for successful delivery is continuing to be recognised, and we are delighted to begin this journey with the CTD to advance their vision for a prosperous Cyprus.” says Mr Chatwin.
